Just like the summer season is changing to fall, your company will be changing from cooling towers to boiler systems. But before you fire up your boiler, there are some steps one should take to insure the boiler is functioning properly and efficiently. The following article will discuss what maintenance should be performed during summer while the boiler is inactive, and also when it first starts up in the fall, and then finally, during its normal start up sequences. Some of the different steps include, but are not limited to:
- changing gaskets
- inspecting for corrosion or any other damage
- verifying boiler water level
- examining the boiler furnace for foreign material
- energizing the igniter
