Have you ever considered how water shapes your daily life? From heating and cooling systems to manufacturing and power generation, water is indispensable. It is vital for agriculture, transportation, healthcare, and the maintenance of a healthy ecosystem. Water plays a crucial role in cooking, cleaning, waste management, and recreation. When you think about it, few things are as important as water.
Water's Impact on Industry
There are many ways to be good stewards of water. At Watertech, we help our customers unlock the full potential of water in their facilities. Large quantities are essential for heating, cooling, and manufacturing processes. By using innovative products and technologies to optimize water usage, we assist customers in reducing their environmental footprint while maintaining productivity.
Sustainable practices not only help lower costs but also extend equipment life.
Water's Impact on the Environment
Water treatment is also essential for protecting the environment and preserving natural ecosystems. By removing pollutants and harmful substances from wastewater before it's returned to rivers and lakes, treatment processes prevent contamination of these water bodies. Watertech offers
high-performance solutions to facilities and municipalities to help meet strict discharge limits, minimize pollution, and improve the quality of water being discharged.
Supporting Conservation: Ducks Unlimited and Milwaukee Riverkeeper
Watertech is committed to water stewardship beyond our day-to-day business operations. Watertech proudly supports conservation initiatives that align with our mission of protecting water resources. Among these, we actively partner with Ducks Unlimited and Milwaukee Riverkeeper.
Ducks Unlimited leads the way in conserving and restoring wetland and waterfowl habitats across North America. Through sponsorships and participation in local and national events, we help safeguard critical ecosystems that promote biodiversity and support wildlife. Milwaukee Riverkeeper is dedicated to improving and protecting the health of Milwaukee’s rivers. Since 2018, we’ve been a part of their Adopt-a-River Program, working alongside them to monitor water quality, reduce pollution, and restore habitats. Their mission closely aligns with our values, and we are proud to contribute to their efforts. To get involved or learn more, visit

Supporting Students Studying Freshwater Sciences
We work in many ways to create a positive effect on water and the environment, but one of the most important things we do is to provide support to the next generation of leaders in the industry. Watertech's President, Joe Russell, is on UWM's Professional Advisory Council and is actively involved in helping those who want to grown and learn in the field of Freshwater Science. The University of Wisconsin Milwaukee offers the nation’s only Freshwater Science program. It began as a graduate level program, but now offers both graduate and undergraduate degrees.
Watertech made the first endowment to the school of Freshwater Sciences with the goal of funding the
Watertech of America Scholarship in Memory of Eugene Vanden Heuvel. Gene was a mentor to many in the industry including Watertech’s current president and owner, Joe Russell. Joe wanted to honor Gene and continue his legacy of mentorship and passion for the industry. What started as an award for 3-4 graduate level students has grown to 8 students receiving awards in 2024.
UWM School of Freshwater Sciences offers a wide range of research experiences, internships and fellowships in the water technology industry, public policy organizations and federal and state government. Lisa Sasso, featured in this video, was one of the first recipients of the Watertech of America Scholarship in Memory of Eugene Vanden Heuvel.
Commitment to Water Stewardship
Watertech’s dedication to solving water-related challenges in industrial and environmental settings reflects our belief in the critical importance of water in all aspects of life. By supporting organizations like Ducks Unlimited, Milwaukee Riverkeeper, and UWM’s Freshwater Science program we extend our commitment to water stewardship into the broader community. Together, we can ensure that water remains a sustainable and accessible resource for generations to come.
