Job Description

Watertech is looking to immediately hire an Accounting Assistant to support our continued growth. Job responsibilities include assisting the Controller and Finance Department to keep financial records updated, prepare reports, assist with AP check runs and other tasks related to the company finances. This position will work approximately 24 hours per week with flexibility regarding the days and time worked. Office hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. This is an in person position.

  • Provide accounting and clerical support to the finance department.
  • Prepare and maintain accounting documents and records.
  • Assist with other accounting functions such as preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, month-end closing, and various financial reports.
  • Verify invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents, resolving any discrepancies.
  • Set invoices up for payment.
  • Track expenses and process expense reports.
  • Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.
  • Prepare check runs and process electronic transfers.
  • Maintain account payables system and vendor files.
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries.
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
  • Provide assistance and support to company personnel.
  • Function in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws.

Qualifications

  • Proven working experience as an Accounts Payable Clerk and/or Accounting Assistant.
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Competency in MS Office, databases, and accounting software.
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports.
  • Ability to perform filing and record-keeping tasks.

Education & Experience

  • Some post-secondary education is preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a professional office environment.
  • 1-3 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience.
  • Experience with accounting software (Dynamics NAV/Business Central).
  • Experience processing freight bills.
